Who we are
This App is published by Apepite (France).

The app shows weather forecasts with looping videos of a cat that match the current conditions. You can use a default cat or create your own with the optional Add My Cat feature.
Summary
- We do not show ads, sell your data, or track you across other companies’ apps and websites.
- We do not use the advertising identifier (IDFA) or ask for App Tracking Transparency for analytics.
- There is no email sign-up. The app uses a random identifier to link your cats and settings on our servers.
- Weather uses Apple WeatherKit. Cat creation is optional and requires a one-time in-app purchase processed by Apple.
Data we collect and why
Location

You can deny location access and pick cities manually via MapKit search instead.
Photos and cat name
If you use Add My Cat, you choose one or two photos of your cat and a name.
- Why: Generate stylized images and weather videos of your cat.
- What happens: Photos are uploaded to our Meteochat API at
https://meteochat.apepite.com, processed on our servers, and stored on Backblaze B2 (cloud storage). Our backend may use third-party AI image and video generation services (such as Evolink or fal.ai, depending on server configuration) to produce the content. Only the data needed for generation is sent to those providers. - Camera and photo library access is requested by iOS when you take or pick a photo.
We do not use your cat’s name or photos for advertising.
Saved cities
If you add cities, we store each city’s name, latitude, and longitude.
- Why: Show forecasts for places you care about.
- Where: Synced across your Apple devices via iCloud Key-Value Store (if you use iCloud). Your selected city is also stored locally on the device.
City search uses Apple MapKit on your device; search queries are not sent to our Meteochat API.
Identifiers and account data

There is no password or email account in the app.
Analytics (ASO Atlas)
We use ASO Atlas over HTTPS. We collect:
- Product interaction: screens you view, feature usage (for example adding a cat, choosing a city), and session events such as app open and background.
- Device and app context: app version, OS version, device model type, language preference, and the analytics install ID (not IDFA or IDFV).
We design analytics so it does not include cat names, city names, free text you type, email, or precise location.
Purchases
Cat creation uses a consumable in-app purchase processed by Apple (StoreKit). We do not receive your payment card details. Apple may provide us transaction metadata through normal StoreKit and App Store Server mechanisms. We associate purchases with your product user ID via Apple’s appAccountToken for accounting and support.
On your device only
- Weather videos and images downloaded for playback are cached on your device.
- Local notifications (optional): if you ask to be notified when your cat’s videos are ready, the app schedules a notification on the device. No push notification server is used.
What we do not collect
- Email address, phone number, or postal address.
- Advertising identifiers (IDFA), or other-style advertising IDs.
- Health, fitness, age, or gender data.
- Analytics or API payloads designed to carry free-form personal content (cat names and city names are kept out of analytics by design).

Apple’s use of data is governed by Apple’s privacy policy and the terms for WeatherKit and the App Store.
Weather data in the app is subject to Apple Weather terms and attribution shown in the app.
Legal bases
You can object to analytics processing tied to your install by using Delete my data (see below).
How long we keep data
- On your device: Until you delete the app, use Delete my data, or clear data in iOS Settings. Cached media may be removed by the system when storage is low.
- Analytics (ASO Atlas): Governed by ASO Atlas retention; you can request deletion of analytics tied to your install via Delete my data in the app (which triggers a server-side delete request for the analytics install ID).
- Meteochat server: Cat photos, generated media, and metadata (including cat name and product user ID) are kept so you can use My Cats and so we can operate the service. If you reset your identity in the app, your new user ID will not show cats tied to the old ID, but media linked to the old ID may remain on our servers until you ask us to delete it.
- Public cats: Our API supports a moderated public gallery. The app can browse public cats. Public content is subject to moderation and this policy.
Your choices and rights
In the app and on iOS
- Change location, camera, photos, and notification permissions in iOS Settings.
- Delete my data (Settings): removes saved cities (including iCloud key-value data for cities), your selected cat, temperature unit preference, in-progress add-cat jobs, analytics data for this install, and resets your product user ID on this device. Purchased credits and cats already tied to the previous user ID on our servers are not automatically deleted; contact us if you want server-side erasure. After reset, you receive a new anonymous user ID.
